Te Tauākī Whāinga 2021–2024
The Statement of Intent describes what Te Mātāwai plans to focus on to navigate its way towards the vision of the Maihi Māori strategy, ‘Kia Ūkaipō anō te Reo Māori’, which sees the Māori language restored as a nurturing first language.
Our Annual Report is a reflection on the 12 months ending 30 June 2020 and our delivery of Te Mātāwai strategic outcomes. The turbulence of COVID-19 was unprecedented and truly tested the ability of our staff to adapt and ensure our work continued.
Looking back on the 12 months ending 30 June 2019, we have built our organisational capacity, which will see us push our own boundaries to identify and respond to opportunities that help the Māori language grow and thrive.
This is our first full year Annual Report for the year ending 30 June 2018 and a year of significant progress for our organisation. We finalised the Maihi Māori strategy setting out our vision ‘Kia Ūkaipō anō te Reo Māori’, which sees the Māori language restored as a nurturing first language. We saw the establishment of a network of language champions in our Kāhui, throughout Aotearoa and commenced our investment role in revitalising the Māori language in communities.
Our first Annual Report for the year ending 30 June 2017 reflects on nine months’ work to establish our Board, commence the development of the Maihi Māori strategy and set up our organisation to provide for new and innovative ways to lead the revitalisation of the Māori language.
