This month we're in the Tainui rohe with Ngāti Hauā and their kaupapa, Hāpaitia Te Reo. The wānanga focused on creating families and communities of Te Reo Māori speakers and provided an opportuntiy for participants to hear directly from Māori language champions.
Like his tupuna Wiremu Tamihana Tarapipipi Te Waharoa, Matua Anaru has played an important role in the Kiingitanga, officiating during the week-long celebration of King Tuheitia Paki’s coronation. But he's playing another important role in his iwi, helping to revitilise te reo Māori amongst his people. He share's his own personal journey and challenges learning Te Reo.
